New security for Amphi schools

Posted: Updated:
TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Amphitheater Middle School students will start arriving for their first day of school this morning, and many will see a change in campus security.

A top priority for the school was making sure students and parents felt safe.  Construction crews spent the summer upgrading the school's security system.

Security fencing is now in place around the property and cameras are in place.   Another important feature is there is now only one way into the school, and that is through the front office.  From that point it will be up to the front office to decide who to let in.

There are windows and a buzzer system in place around the front office entrance.  In case of an emergency the school has also added a new health office with an entry way for emergency vehicles.

The middle school wasn't the only school to get security improvements, upgrades were made district wide.
