Today students throughout the Amphitheater School District are heading back to school and this year brings a new look for Amphi Middle School.
Construction crews are putting some finishing touches on a $7.1 million in additions and renovations. The school added six new classrooms equipped with smartboards, as well as renovated the gym, kitchen and library.
During the demolition of a wall in the gym crews found a tiny wooden box encased in the concrete. It contained a letter that dated all the way back to the 1930s. The letter contains details about the funding for the renovation taking place at that time. The letter has been replicated and placed on a bronze plaque.
Amphi Middle School will be holding an open house to show off these improvements in the next two weeks.
