TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Four people face charges following an overnight carjacking on Tucson's south side, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

San Xavier District deputies received a call in reference to a stolen vehicle at a Quick Mart store in the 4200 block of E. Benson Highway around 8:30 p.m. Monday.

Authorities were told one suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded his vehicle.

Deputies could not immediately locate the suspects, but they received a tip a few hours later that directed them to the vehicle. They initiated a traffic stop but the driver of the stolen vehicle led police on a brief pursuit. When the vehicle stopped, the four suspects fled the area in all directions.

The sheriff's air unit and canine unit helped apprehend all four suspects, who were then booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center.

Upon further investigation, Sheriff's Night Detective Unit personnel discovered two suspects were involved in the carjacking and the two others were joyriding, according to police.

Alejandro Medina Robles, 19, was charged with armed robbery and theft of means of transportation.

Richard Biebrich, 18, was charged with armed robbery, theft of means of transportation and possession of a stolen firearm.

Alejandro Luis Rubalcaba, 19, was charged with unlawful use of means of transportation, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Michael Joseph Butierez, 18, was charged with unlawful use of means of transportation.

The investigation is ongoing.
