5 quick ways to cut down your spending

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Financial expert Drew Blease from Blease Financial Services stopped by the studio this morning to help us save a little bit of money.

You can simply start by packing a brown bag lunch instead of eating out. Blease says average Americans spend $2,000 a year on lunches out with co-workers. He suggests packing your lunch can save you a bunch and you can pack a much healthier lunch than you would buy at a restaurant.

This could be a tough one for some of you out there! Blease says brewing your own coffee instead of buying a cup of joe at your corner coffee shop could save you close to $1,000 per year. He says the average coffee drinker spends $20 every week at those specialty coffee shops and those cups of coffee really do add up through the year.

This is an idea some people might be able to save some money on with a simple phone call. If you have your television, internet and phone service through companies that work together, you might be able to bundle and drop your bill significantly. Blease says, with a growing number of shows free on the internet, you might think about cutting your television bill by cutting your number of channels.

Clipping coupons is always a good way to save at the grocery store. Make sure when you are using coupons to follow the ads for the week and combine those coupons with the sales at the various stores. You can nearly double your savings by combining the coupons and the weekly sales.

Drew Blease also says to take the family to a movie matinee instead of at night when the prices are the highest. You don't have to break the bank and you can cut your cost in half just by going earlier in the day.

Hopefully some of these ideas will help save you some cash! In a couple weeks, Drew Blease will be back in our studio to help give us some good ideas on how to get out of debt.
