TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A Tucson toddler is dead after police say he was shaken by his own father.

According to Tucson Police, on August 12th, officers were called out to the 1200 block of South Turquoise Vista for a report of an unresponsive 2-month old boy, named Mavrik Riggin.

Firefighters and paramedics immediately rushed little Mavrik Riggin to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Doctors and nurses were suspicious of the boy's injuries, concluding they weren't accidental, and called police.

During their investigation, detectives discovered that the baby's father had just moved back into the home with the mother and baby.

Investigators say the father, identified as 22 year old Fayde Riggin, got frustrated with his son and shook him a number of times over the past month.

Riggin has been booked into the Pima County Jail for one count of child abuse. Detectives have now added one count of 1st degree murder.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
