TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - As the price of college rises, so does the amount of federal aid.
A new report released today by the U.S. Department of Education, shows more students are receiving federal financial aid to help pay for tuition.
More students are willing to apply for and receive federal grants and loans, while even less are borrowing state and university aid.
The U.S. Department of Education report shows that 71 percent of all undergraduate students received some type of financial aid in the 2011-2012 school year, up from 66 percent from four years earlier. The report also shows that 42 percent of students received federal grants, up from 28 percent and 40 percent received federal loans, an increase of 5 percent.
According to the report, access to state grants among dependent full time students actually declined.
