TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A Tucson teacher has been removed from her classroom after an alleged incident last week.

Tucson police say they were called to Hollinger Elementary School at 150 west Ajo Way on Tucson's southwest side because a child's caregiver was upset that the child had been taped to a chair to keep her from getting up.

The Tucson Unified School District issued a statement that says the district is investigating and that "such behavior is not appropriate or acceptable."

TUSD says if it's determined this incident took place, "appropriate disciplinary action will be taken."

The teacher's name has not been released.

TUSD replied with the following statement:

"TUSD has received a complaint and the matter is under investigation. We take these things very seriously. Obviously such behavior is not appropriate or acceptable and is not part of any district protocol. The teacher is not in the classroom pending the outcome of the investigation. The complaint has been referred to district leadership and if it?s determined that this incident took place, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken."
