TUCSON, AZ (PCL) -

The Tucson Padres scored eight runs in the fifth inning to come back and defeat the Tacoma Rainiers 9-6 Thursday at Kino Stadium.

The Padres sent 12 batters to the plate in the fifth, scoring eight runs on seven hits to take the lead. Jonathan Galvez, Mike Wilson and Gregorio Petit hit consecutive two-out RBI singles to tie the score at five. Ben Francisco drilled his second hit of the inning, a  two-run triple to center, putting Tucson ahead for good. The eight-run inning was one run shy of Tucson's high, a nine-run inning vs. Round Rock on May 14.

The Padres extended their wining streak to four games and remain five back of the Pacific Southern Division leading Las Vegas 51s who shutout Fresno for their fifth straight victory.

Robbie Erlin picked up his eighth win of the season, despite throwing his final pitch with the score 5-0 Tacoma.

James Paxton, who threw a nine-inning shutout in Tucson last month, was charged with his 11th loss after surrendering seven hits, eight runs and four walks in 4.1 innings.

Dean Anna's sacrifice fly in the sixth increased Tucson's advantage to 9-5. Anna went 1-for-2 at the plate Thursday to keep his Pacific Coast League-leading average at .335.

Tucson High grad Tom Wilhelmsen ('02) entered the game in relief in the seventh inning, loading the bases before working out of the jam with a strike out and a ground out. The deposed Mariners closer allowed two hits and threw a wild pitch in the eighth before being relieved by Josh Kinney.

Wilhelmsen has made five appearances since being sent down on August 7th. He has allowed 11 hits in nine and a third innings, posting an ERA of 6.75.

Tacoma went ahead 4-0 the in the third inning on four hits, including RBI doubles from Abraham Almonte and Carlos Peguero. The Rainiers tacked on a run in the fifth coming from Peguero's second RBI double of the game.

Tacoma's final run of the game came in the seventh on Abraham Almonte's solo home run into the left field bullpen.
