JACKSONVILLE, FL (WTLV/CNN) – A terrifying night for a young girl at a Best Buy in Jacksonville, FL on Saturday.
Investigators say a 9-year-old girl got out of her mother's sight for a minute when 29-year-old James Patrick Tadros lured the girl into the women's bathroom.
A customer heard the child's screams for help and rushed in to see Tadros beating the girl.
Authorities say if the customer hadn't come in when they did, the girl would have been killed.
"By the grace of God, the customer and employees got in when they did," Jacksonville Sheriff Office Sgt. Jay Farhat said. "If it has been any longer this could have been a much worse outcome."
Farhat said Tadros did know the young girl.
Police also said that he punched and kicked her, put a plastic bag over her head and held her head down in the toilet.
Tadros is in custody and will be charged with attempted murder.
