National Parks turn 97

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The National Park Service spent Sunday celebrating its 97th birthday by allowing visitors into parks for free.

Hundreds of bikers and hikers spent part of their day at Saguaro National Park in Tucson to celebrate Founders Day for the National Park Service.

Congress created the NPS back in 1916.

Now just in case you did not get the chance to make it out to Sunday's fee free day, on Sept. 28 entrance fees will once again be waived for National Public Lands Day.
