A night of fun and games took a turn for the worse for a Tucson family after a little girl was found floating in a miniature golf pond.

It happened Friday at the Golf N' Stuff on the east side. According to the Tucson Police Department spokeswoman, an off-duty officer working security at Golf N' Stuff called for back up after a man pulled a 23-month-old girl from a water feature at the mini golf course.

The girl's family told officers that as they were finishing up a game of miniature golf she wandered away from her parents. When they realized she was missing they immediately notified the park's staff who then notified the off-duty officer.

A man jumped into a water feature after spotting the toddler in the water. He tried performing CPR but had never had any training and he wasn't able to revive her.

Thankfully, all Tucson police officers have had CPR training including Officer Billy Daniel, a 26 ½ year veteran, and Officer Jeremy Hall, a 1 year veteran and former EMT. The two officers  successfully administered CPR and got her breathing again when medics arrived.

The girl was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but she has since been upgraded. Hospital staff says she's improved greatly and they believe she's going to survive.

A TPD spokesperson says while it's an unfortunate accident, "we are thankful to the family for quickly notifying authorities and to the citizen, who initially located the little girl and pulled her out of the water. We are especially proud of our officers for immediately recognizing the need for CPR and administering it appropriately, successfully reviving the child and increasing the likelihood of her surviving the incident."
