Execution warrant granted for Arizona death row inmate

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

An execution has been granted for one Arizona death row inmate and delayed for another.

On Tuesday, the Arizona Supreme Court ordered the Department of Corrections to schedule the execution of 43-year-old Robert Jones.

Jones was sentenced to die for the deadly shootings of six people during two armed robberies in Tucson in 1996.

The court says it is delaying consideration of a separate request for an execution warrant for 70-year-old Edward Schad, who was sentenced to death for the 1978 murder of a Bisbee man.
