Police: Man tries to kill victim with brick

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A man who told police he was injured falling off his bike has now been arrested on attempted murder charges.

Police said he was really hurt while trying to kill a man.

Someone at the Mapco Express on Main Street in east Nashville called 911 because a man was beaten outside the store.

While at the scene, police noticed a second man with blood dripping down his leg. They believed the man is the suspect, but he said he wasn't involved.

Police said Horace Horton allegedly beat the victim with a brick and became injured during the beating.

Horton told police he was injured falling off his bike and had no idea what happened to the victim.

Later, another man told police he helped Horton beat the victim, but that he tried to stop Horton when he grabbed a brick.

The alleged accomplice told police that Horton intended to kill the victim. The second man may also be arrested.

The man beaten with the brick was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His condition is not known.
