TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

AAA Arizona will offer a free one way ride for the public through its Tipsy Tow service this Labor Day weekend.

The service starts September 1 at 6 p.m. and will run through September 2 at 6 a.m. for those who provide a name, home address, phone number and vehicle or driver location.

Motorists will be charged the towing company's standard rate for trips longer than ten miles. Other AAA services will not be provided, including vehicle start, flat tire change, gas delivery or taxi service.

"When planning your holiday, always arrange for a designated driver or other safe ride home," said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. "If those plans fall through, call AAA for a Tipsy Tow."

One alcohol-impaired death occurs every 45 minutes across the country, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Also, alcohol-impaired drivers reportedly contribute one out of every three traffic deaths.

The Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety reports that more than 27,000 DUI arrests were made in Arizona in 2012.

AAA estimates that a first-time DUI conviction can cost a motorist more than $10,000 in fines, penalties, legal fees and increased insurance costs.

Call (800) 222-4357 for the Tipsy Tow service.
