Marana football's new playing field

They built it and Marana High School athletes, students and staff have something to cheer about. The football team has a new surface to play on.

For the last several months, crews from FieldTurf have taken out the grass from the field and replaced it with a state of the art synthetic turf. FieldTurf has built fields for the University of Arizona, the New England Patriots and the New York Giants.

The company also installed artificial turf for Mountain View High School. Marana Unified School District was able to pay for the turf through an athletic bond.

MUSD went to artificial turf for several reasons - safety for the athletes and lower maintenance cost. They will not have to water the turf or paint it before every home game.

The high school athletes are not the only ones that can use the field. The school district is encouraging the community to come out and use the turf.  It will be open to the public Monday thru Friday and on weekends.
