TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The University of Arizona Wildcats will take the field and open the football season at Arizona Stadium tonight, facing the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona University.
As the football season opens up here there will be a 'whole lot of new' for the Wildcats as well – this is the first ever weekday opener at Arizona Stadium; a new north end zone will welcome fans, and even new artificial turf with 'Beardown' watermarked down the center. The Wildcats uniforms are also new this year, the colors are the same but the designs and colors bleed together in the numbers.
Another important new addition is the quarterback. Coach Rich Rodriguez has stated the front runner for QB is UA senior BJ Denker, but fans will not know for sure who will fill the spot until the offense takes the field.
The Wildcats are expected to have an easy game from the Lumberjacks, but no one can tell until the team takes the field.
Wildcat walk will be at 5 p.m., with the gates opening at 5:30 p.m. and kick off at 7 p.m.
For those unable to attend the game in person will be able to watch the game on TV with PAC-12 Network.
