JACKSONVILLE, FL (AP) - The Jacksonville Jaguars have cut rookie quarterback Matt Scott, likely meaning recently added Ricky Stanzi will be the team's third-string quarterback for the season opener.

Scott didn't do much in the preseason, so the Jaguars claimed Stanzi off waivers from Kansas City earlier in the week.

The former Wildcat starter threw an interception and was sacked Thursday night in the team's 20-16 preseason win over Atlanta. He went 12-for-27 for 119 yards in three games. Scott did not throw a touchdown pass for the Jaguars.

There is the chance undrafted free agent could be signed to Jacksonville's practice squad and rejoin the team for the beginning of the season.
