TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Labor Day marks the unofficial end to summer and Tucsonans are making the most of the symbolic day.

Jeff Greenland enjoyed his day off work, bonding with his wife and two kids at the park.

He has a full day of activities ahead.

"My brother is coming into town this evening so we'll be hanging out with him, and doing hotdogs and hamburgers."

The Partain family spent the day relaxing at the spa and pool, and playing catch.

Teri Partain says Labor Day means amazing food.

"Then we're gonna go back to the house and play and grill some philly cheesesteak bellpeppers  [and] homemade mac and cheese."

In Summerhaven, shopkeepers say Labor Day has been the busiest they've seen all summer long.

The picnic areas along Catalina Highway up to Mount Lemmon are all full.

Families fire up the grill for some burgers, hot dogs and corn on the cob.

"The scenery, it's beautiful. It's just perfect."

Some taking in nature's beauty, kids hiking the trails.

And friends making memories, playing board games.

"And we sit and have a good time. Have a lot of laughs lots of laughs. And we pick on eachother. Yeah we do a lot of that."

With the cooler weather, it's no wonder people are flocking here.
