Driver charged after hitting construction worker

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) -

At 2: 29 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, Garfield Heights Police were called to Granger Road, near the ramp to I-480, for a pedestrian struck.

Officers discovered an unconscious construction worker had been hit by a vehicle.

The victim was  transported to Marymount Hospital and was later life-flighted to MetroHealth Medical Center.

The worker is being treated for head and abdominal injuries. 

No word yet on the workers condition.

The construction worker was hit by a female driver, Patricia White, who was arrested for aggravated vehicular assault.

Garfield Police Chief Robert Sackett reports White was charged with OVI.

The victim's identity is being held until next of kin have been notified.
