BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

LSU football radio analyst Doug Moreau is currently on a temporary leave of absence while dealing with health issues.

Moreau, who has called LSU football games for 35 years, missed the season opener against TCU land will miss the Tigers' home opener against UAB. No word when he will return to the booth.

"I'm hoping to have these health matters resolved very soon," Moreau said. "I hope this is only a temporary arrangement for the radio network. I do appreciate LSU's support and willingness to accommodate me during this time."

The LSU Sports Radio Network will shuffle talent with Gordy Rush coming in to fill as color analyst until Moreau returns. Rush, who has served as the sideline reporter for the past two years, will work alongside play-by-play announcer Jim Hawthorne.

Bill Franques will take over for Rush as sideline reporter during Moreau's absence. Franques is the color analyst for LSU baseball's away games and the voice of Alex Box Stadium

Moreau was an All-American who played for LSU from 1963-65. He then went to play for the Miami Dolphins in the NFL from 1966-70. He has also served as a judge and district attorney in Baton Rouge.
