The University of Arizona is losing one of its shining stars. After 34 years, Kathleen "Rocky" LaRose is retiring.
Rocky is the Deputy Director of Athletics at UA. She also served as Acting Director of Athletics in 2009-2010. She was the first woman to be appointed as A.D. in school history.
Rocky has a long history of firsts, including being the first woman to oversee men's football and basketball programs as Deputy Director.
She is a role model to countless women athletes—rising from a college softball player to coach to overseeing athletics.
I had the pleasure of getting to know Rocky during breakfast meetings at the Tucson's Leading Women organization. She set a great example of leading with intelligence, humility and knowing how to motivate all of us. There is no doubt UA will miss her.
Rocky, all of us here at KOLD wish you the very best on your retirement.
