TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A Department of Corrections van carrying a wildland fire crew was involved in a rollover crash today just south of Florence.

According to a DOC spokesman, the van was carrying ten inmates and two staff members who police say were returning from an assignment in Oro Valley back to the Arizona State Prison Complex in Florence at the time of the crash.

The crash happened on State Route 79 at mile post 126 around 2:30 p.m.

One inmate was transported to Maricopa Medica Center in Phoenix with injuries to his arm and back. His condition is not considered life-threatening, according to a news release.

Another inmate was treated for a minor cut to the head, and sox inmates were treated for bumps and bruises, officials said.

One Corrections Officer sustained minor injuries and the second officer was unarmed, but was checked as a precaution.

The inmates are minimum security inmates and not considered dangerous.

The spokesman did not know where the van was headed at the time of the crash.

The injured who were not taken to a hospital will be taken back to the Florence prison.

The investigation is ongoing.
