PIMA COUNTY, AZ ( Tucson News Now) -

Michael Mesaros is booked into Pima County Jail Thursday night. He faced a judge briefly in video court at about 8:30 p.m. A public defender asked the judge to release him, but the judge wasn't having any of it.

Mesaros had cuts on his face and had a brace wrapped around his arm as he appeared in court. Deputies say the 26-year-old shot at a sheriff's patrol car and three other vehicles early Thursday morning. It happened at a Northwest side apartment complex near Magee and La Cholla. No one was hurt but one of the apartment buildings was damaged along with the vehicles.

Deputies responded after people called in hearing shots fired. Mesaros allegedly ran away once deputies got there but he was later taken into custody. He faces attempted murder charges.

Mesaros' public defender argued he be released on his own recognizance so Mesaros could get out-of-jail treatment for his injuries. The public defender also said Mesaros has reliable transportation to make future court appearance and because he hasn't been convicted of a felony in the past 3 years. But the judge said no and instead held him on $25,000 bond.
