A morning traffic stop on I-10 turns into a foot race and a call for assistance from a Tucson Police officer.
According to Tucson Police the incident began with a traffic stop on I-10 between Park and Kino. TPD officers pulled over a vehicle and had Benjamin Peinado out of the car when he fought with them and ran from the scene.
A foot chase resulted with a call for assistance from one of the TPD officers. The suspect, Peinado, was eventually caught and arrested near Ajo and Bernard. According to TPD Peinado had felony warrants for burglary and auto theft. He is now facing further charges of resisting arrest, assault on police officers, and felony fleeing in addition to several more pending charges.
Peinado was in night court. His bound has been set at $10,000 and he is expected to be back in court on September 23rd.
The incident had traffic slowed down on the eastbound side of I-10 this morning.
