TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Joint enforcement operations seized approximately $686,000 worth of marijuana and a stolen vehicle in what police suspect to be a drug smuggling attempt near Cocklebur, north of Tucson.

Detection technology, and the assistance of a CBP Air and Marine aircraft, directed the West Desert Task Force to an abandoned vehicle and 60 bundles of marijuana in nearby brush early Friday.

The Drug Enforcement Administration seized the drugs, estimated to weigh about 1,372 pounds. The 2005 Chevy Tahoe was turned over to the Tohono O'odham Police Department.

The vehicle was reported stolen out of Scottsdale earlier this week.
