TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

UPDATE: As of 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Tucson Electric Power reports power has been restored to 2,200 customers.  TEP says an "equipment failure" is to blame for the outage.

More than 2,000 Tucson Electric Power customers are without power, according to TEP.  The outage is affecting 2,200 customers in the area of Houghton and Valencia.

Tucson News Now reporter Matt Mendes says street lights in the area appear to be working, as of 8 p.m. Saturday, and some area residents report their power has returned.  However, many others say their lights still are out.
