MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

A Mesa man suffered minor burns when his apartment caught fire Tuesday morning.

The fire was reported just before 9 a.m. in a unit of the Brittany Place Apartments, 708 N. Country Club Dr., and appeared to have started in the kitchen, said Mesa Fire Capt. Forrest Smith.

About a dozen firefighters contained the fire to the kitchen area within 15 minutes and no adjoining unit was affected, he said.

The man in his early 20s was taken to Maricopa County Medical Center's Burn Unit for treatment of burns to his arms.

Smith said no residents in the three-story complex were expected to be displaced by the fire.
