FLORENCE, AZ (CBS5) -

Two Casa Grande men were in custody after Pinal County sheriff's deputies found more than 280 pounds in a truck early Tuesday morning.

Members of the West Desert Task Force alerted the sheriff's office to a "suspicious vehicle" on State Route 84. When deputies pulled over the 1994 Chevrolet Suburban, two men jumped from the back doors of the truck ran into the desert while the driver and a passenger remained in the front seats, said a PCSO spokesman.

Deputies found the six bundles of marijuana wrapped in burlap, the spokesman said.

Arrested were the driver, Benito Gonzales, 42, and Benito Garcia, 21, the spokesman said.

Gonzales and Garcia were each booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center for possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale and transportation of marijuana for sale.

The two men who jumped from the vehicle eluded authorities.
