PEORIA, AZ (CBS5) -

Three children were hurt after two vehicles collided head-on in Peoria Wednesday afternoon.

Police said an 80-year-old driver may have suffered a medical condition and crossed over into oncoming traffic at Northern and 83rd Avenue, hitting a car containing four children, ages 7 to 9.

The elderly driver was also rushed to a nearby hospital, police said.

The eastbound lanes of Northern at about 83rd Avenue were closed for about 90 minutes while police conducted an investigation.

No other information was immediately available.
