Twin Peaks Road back open after pedestrian struck

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Northwest Fire Department officials responded to reports of a pedestrian struck near Twin Peaks and Sidewinder, near Avra Valley.

Capt. Adam Goldberg with Northwest Fire said a female driver saw a man in the street and started to brake but could not stop before hitting the pedestrian.

Twin Peaks was closed at Silverbell through Sandario for a medevac helicopter to land just after 7 p.m.

The injured pedestrian was airlifted to a local trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries and the road has since reopened.
