(WMC-TV) - A baby in east Tennessee will be able to keep the name his mother gave him despite the controversy surrounding the name. The name is Messiah.

In August, a Cocke County judge ruled the mother had to change her baby's name. The judge explained her reasoning for the name change as "the name Messiah was a title reserved for just one person, Jesus Christ".

A higher court reversed that decision.

The attorney for the baby's mother declared they appealed the decision because both the mother and father agreed on the name and the judge's decision was unconstitutional.
