Drought conditions continue to improve across the state

Posted: Updated:

Drought in Arizona has once again improved thanks to monsoon downpours.

Below is the latest U.S. Drought Monitor update from this week.

68.82% of the state is still in drought, however that is down from last week by over 7%.

Plus many areas that are still in drought had conditions improve in the 7 days the measurements were taken.

Below is last week's Drought Monitor update (September 10, 2013).

Notice there is a lot more red on the map, which indicates a more severe drought level.

Compared to the start of the monsoon, drought conditions have improved significantly across the station.

Drought coverage dropped by over 24% since the start of the monsoon.
