'Ready or Hot' climate change discussion happening today

Posted: Updated:
TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Arizonans know the heat all too well, but coming summers are expected to get even hotter due to climate change.

That is why local leaders and experts are kicking off a discussion on what this means for residents today.

The Climate Change discussion today is free and open to the public, at the Unisource building off Broadway and Sixth Avenue, and is hosted by the Physicians for Social Responsibility.

The two day conference ‘Ready or Hot' will be the beginning of an outreach program which will attempt to educate the people in Tucson on how to prepare for increased heat.

Speakers will touch on many topics like what higher temperatures will mean, water security, disease and food issues.

The conference starts today and will continue tomorrow.  The climate discussion is happening today at 7 p.m.; those interested in attending should RSVP online at http://www.psr.org/chapters/arizona/climate-smart-southwest/
