6th Avenue converts to two-way travel

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Sixth Avenue used to only go north, but now offers a southern route from Speedway.

With Sixth Avenue now a two-way street that means another way home from major commuter arteries like Speedway.  Drivers who use that section of road today should remember that there are parking restrictions as workers finish work in the area.

Some street parking along Sixth Avenue between Sixth Street and Drachman will not be allowed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Now that the yellow lines are painted, crews are working to complete access ramps near Sixth Avenue and Speedway as well as Sixth Street and Sixth Avenue. Lane restrictions will be in place possibly until the end of the month while work is completed.

Drivers should also be aware that crews will be working to trim trees next week along this same route.

Traffic might be slower than usual in the area; also be on the lookout for ‘No Parking' signs.
