    Firefighters are battling flames after a brief lightning storm near Elgin ignited several fires that combined into one on Saturday afternoon, according to Sonoita Fire Department PIO Katie Goodwin. Sonoita
    600 acres outside of Elgin have burned. Sonoita Fire Department is on the scene and more units are on their way.
TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Broadway Citizens Task Force invites the public to attend a planning update presentation and participate in a community workshop for the Broadway: Euclid to Country Club Improvement Project.

Attendees may participate in small group discussions, planning and can provide project feedback through comment cards and message boards on September 26 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The 13 members of the CTF and the project planning and design team will review the project schedule, and discuss width alternatives and performance measures. The meeting will be held at the Sabbar Shrine Hall, located at 450 S. Tucson Boulevard.

Those who need sign language interpretation or other accommodations may contact Josh Weaver at (520) 622-0815 or broadway@tucsonaz.gov at least 48 hours prior to the meeting. 

The Broadway Boulevard: Euclid Avenue to Country Club Roadway Improvement Project is one of 35 major regional corridor projects that are part of the 2006 voter-approved $2.1 billion Regional Transportation Authority Plan.

The project costs are estimated at $71.3 million, funded by the City of Tucson, Pima County and the RTA.
