An American woman who met him several years ago when she was on a mission trip to that country made it her mission to enable him to hear. She worked with a non-profit organization to set up the surgery. The boy was able to hear his mother speak via skype from Guatemala. He'll stay in Indiana for a few months to learn how to talk and recognize sounds, and then he'll return home to his family.
