TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Tucson/Pima County Household Hazardous Waste Program and the Pima County Sheriff's Department will sponsor a medicine collection event next week.

Prescription and over-the-counter tablets, capsules, liquids, and creams can be dropped off on October 5 at the Eastside Service Center at 7575 E. Speedway Boulevard.

Officials will not accept metal or glass inhalation bottles, syringes, or epi-pens.

The free event will last from 8 a.m. until noon. No collection items will be returned.

In addition to medicine, the public may also drop off automotive fluids, auto and rechargeable batteries from electronics equipment, toxic cleaning products, fluorescent lamps, paints, solvents, and lawn and garden products.
