New homes selling quickly in Perrysburg

PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Theamount of newly-constructed homes in Perrysburg is skyrocketing.

Newhomes are selling before the grass can even grow in. Walls are being lifted andhouse listings are coming down as part of a housing boom.

"They'rebuilding a very nice product for the price," said Carl Wisz, owner of RemaxExecutives.

Ina subdivision off Fort Meigs Road, new houses start out at $240,000, and peopleare buying lots before construction is even finished.

"Thebuilders out there, they were able to build houses in a down market when otherbuilders couldn't get money," Wisz said. "They went out there and invested init and put product up, and they came and bought it."

Evenmore development is planned. Another 230 homes are expected to be built. Peoplewho live in the area say it's the best mix between city and country living.

"Thereis a lot of open space, and there are a lot of people that want to get out to asuburban, semi-rural area," said Dennis Thayer, who has lived in Perrysburg for37 years. "I think that's what they're gonna keep doing."

Asthe market continues to pick up, realtors say neighbors can expect to hear moresounds of construction.
