TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A young boy is fighting for his life after a car hit him and his family while they were crossing the street.

This accident happened on Sunday night near the intersection of Speedway and Alvernon.

According to Tucson Police a car was making a right turn in front of a Shell gas station when it struck a father and his two young children, a 5-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy.  The 7-year-old is in the hospital with life threatening injuries, while his father and sister suffered only minor injuries.

TPD closed down eastbound Speedway for a short time while they investigated the accident. According to TPD all three were inside a crosswalk when they were struck.

A new update just in from Tucson Police it was a woman driving the vehicle that struck the family, she is currently facing a misdemeanor traffic violation.  The investigation is still ongoing.
