According to the Lorain County Sheriff's Dept. while on patrol at 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning, Grafton Police located a damaged fire hydrant on Fox Run Dr. and a license plate near it.
ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) -

Grafton Mayor Megan Flanigan was a no show at Elyria Municipal Court Tuesday on charges of drunk driving. An attorney faxed in a not guilty plea on her behalf.

Flanigan was arrested in the early morning hours Saturday near her home. Grafton police tell 19 Action News Flanigan plowed over a fire hydrant with her SUV. An officer noticed a license plate next to the hydrant and traced it back to the mayor, who was found nearby sitting in her vehicle.

This is Flanigan's first OVI arrest, she was cited in Elyria earlier this year for expired plates and in 2008 for failure to control, along with speeding in 2003.

Her next court date has been set for November 20 at 1:30 p.m., but that may change as a visiting judge is likely to be assigned.
