TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The shutdown is not only affecting government funded parks, but also non-government entities.
Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is being inundated with phone calls and on Tuesday experienced a low attendance rate, due to people thinking the museum is shut down.
The Desert Museum is in fact not federally funded. That is only a minor part of the problem, visitors are not sure if the roads are open that lead to the museum. The confusion is because all the roads travel through Saguaro National Park West, which is closed.
Desert Museum officials say they are still open to visitors.
