TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Three people were sent to the hospital after a two-car collision, in which one vehicle rolled over earlier this morning.

Proper safety seats were credited with saving two young children from more serious injuries, according to Northwest Fire officials.  The 3-year-old and 9-year-old were passengers in the truck that rolled over after it collided with a sedan.

NWFD officials said the two were in age-appropriate safety seats and suffered only minor injuries. They and the 55-year-old driver of the truck were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

The female driver of the sedan and her 9-year-old daughter were also wearing proper restraints. They were treated at the scene and released, according to Northwest Fire officials.

Pima County Sheriff's responded to the scene, investigating the cause of the accident. Westbound River Road was closed at La Cholla to allow emergency crews access the scene.  River Road was opened to one lane after the injured were taken to the hospital.
