TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

University of Arizona baseball coach Andy Lopez will undergo triple bypass surgery Monday, officials said.

University of Arizona officials describe Lopez as stable and expected to make a full recovery.  He can return to coaching after he is cleared by doctors.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Andy and his family," Vice President for Athletics Greg Byrne stated in a news release. "Thankfully the medical team caught it when they did and we expect Andy to make a full recovery. This is a great reminder for all us to be mindful of our health."

Lopez is in his 13th season with the Wildcats. He has led the team to eight postseason berths, including two College World Series appearances highlighted by the 2012 national championship.
