The Alabama Crimson Tide vastly overwhelmed the Georgia State Panthers on Saturday during Alabama's homecoming game.
The Tide found themselves gaining three touchdowns in the first quarter. Christion Jones, T.J. Yeldon and DeAndrew White all managed to find the endzone. Jones scored off of a 8-yard pass for the first touchdown of the game, capping off the 7-play drive covering 71 yards. Yeldon rushed 4 yards to get the second touchdown after a 7-play drive over 61 yards. The kickoff from Yeldon's score saw Panther Kelton Hill fumble to Alabama's Dillon Lee who returned the ball to the Georgia State 10-yard line. On the next play, McCarron passed to White for the score.
In the second quarter, the Alabama defense kept the Panters scoreless while the Tide added another 17 points. With 13:48 remaining in the half, Kenyan Drake broke 23 yards to the endzone to bring the score to 28-0. Jalson Fowler scored at 6:11 by grabbing a McCarron pass for a yard on a 8-play drive over 80 yards. The last score of the half came to kicker Cade Foster with a 27-yard field goal at the end of a 7-play drive over 45 yards.
Coming back from the locker room, the Panthers got some points on the board. After the kickoff, Georgia State held a 9-play drive to cover 46 yards. Kicker Wil Lutz made the long 53-yard kick.
Alabama's backup QB Blake Sims took over responsibilities in the second half. A 10-play drive across 68 yards ended with a Sims pass to Chris Black for 10 yards and the touchdown. Adam Griffith's kick set the score at 45-3. This would be the last scoring of the game with the 4th quarter having no scores by either team.
Next week, Alabama travels to Kentucky to take on the Wildcats. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
