TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tucson Police have identified the victim in a shooting on Tucson's west side last night.

Roger Catalan, 38, was shot late Monday night and was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The shooting happened in the 1200 block of West Ontario Street, near West Speedway Boulevard and North Grande Avenue.

According to TPD when they arrived at the scene around 11:15 p.m., they found Catalan with obvious gunshot trauma.

There may be possible gang affiliation, according to TPD, who called out the Gang Investigations Unit.  Police say that after a preliminary investigation detectives found that an unknown number of individuals were involved in an altercation outside a home on West Ontario, when things escalated and shots were fired.

The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, according to TPD.

Detectives are asking if anyone has information about the suspects or motives behind the shooting, to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
