TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - NextCare Urgent Care will offer free X-ray scans of Halloween candy this year in an effort to minimize the chances of it containing any dangerous objects.

The X-ray scan will offer the chance to see if the candy has been at all tampered with, where it would otherwise go undetected by the naked eye.

Parent's can stop in with their children's Halloween treats on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at participating locations to receive their scan, free of cost.

Trick-or-treat tips to also be aware of include:

- Discard unwrapped treats or anything that looks like it may have been tampered with or previously opened.

- Look for choking hazards, including hard candy and chewing gum, if you have younger children.

- Check ingredients. Make sure they don't include anything your child might be allergic to.
