TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Authorities arrested a Willcox man in possible connection to a reported burglary and assault in Cochise County.

Benson Police Department officials had warrants out for 33-year-old Phillip Livesay of  Willcox after he failed to stop for a traffic violation on Sept. 15.

Police said Livesay was later identified as a person of interest in an Aug. 19 incident in which police discovered an injured 34-year-old female lying on the living room floor of her Cochise County residence. She told authorities a man physically and sexually assaulted her. She was taken to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries.

He was booked into the Cochise County Jail on Oct. 4 and charged with sexual assault, aggravated assault, possession of paraphernalia, burglary, reckless driving and felony flight.

"The hard work and dedication of not only the Sheriff's Office staff, but other law enforcement agencies is evident with the arrest of this suspect," Sheriff Mark Dannels stated in a news release. "We should have an expectation to be safe inside of our homes, and when incidents like this assault happen, we must follow through with all leads and work diligently to bring justice to those who need it the most."

The investigation is ongoing.
