TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tonight is a special "Today's Most": An Honor Flight several years ago was one of the most emotional moments of my career in journalism.

I was lucky enough to go on an Honor Flight with World War II vets from North Carolina. Edward Brenegar Jr. was scheduled to go on the flight, but he died just weeks before the flight took off.

One of the volunteers in charge of the flight decided to bring along Brenegar's American flag, and make a makeshift memorial with it at the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. Then, he returned the flag to Brenegar's widow as hundreds of people gathered to welcome the veterans home.
