Tucson to Phoenix run honors fallen military at each mile

Posted: Updated:
A 146 mile run from Tucson to Phoenix will honor fallen members of the military.

The Run for the Fallen starts at Tucson's Freedom Park on Friday October 18th at 7:00 AM.

A relay team made up of more than 20 active duty members of the military in Arizona and other locations in the U.S. will complete the run over 3 days.

At each mile along the route the relay runner will stop to at a "Hero Marker", where family, friends, and comrades will honor the loss of a military member close to them.

According to Laura Sutton with Run for the Fallen "Each hero marker tribute will include a biographical description of the hero along with American and Honor and Remember Flags."

Each fallen military member honored in this run was part of the War on Terror, Operation Iraqi Freedom Operation Enduring Freedom, or Operation New Dawn.

Sutton says "The goal of the event is to create a 146+ mile memorial trail through Arizona."

The run will finish on Sunday October 20th at the Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza in Phoenix.
