Wednesday afternoon we had some high winds blow across the state of Arizona bringing some major changes to our weather. Low pressure dropped in from the Pacific northwest tightening the pressure gradient between that low and a high to our south. Winds are generally created by two pressure systems wanting to balance each other out, high pressure flowing into a low pressure to equalize the two. The greater the pressure gradient the stronger the winds.
